Baker's Row
Great Marlborough Estates

This high density residential scheme provides eight contemporary homes to achieve maximum space efficiency on a small urban site. Located within the Clerkenwell Green Conversation Area, the scheme references the decorated nineteenth century warehouses of Farringdon and Clerkenwell, robust in form, yet finely detailed.

Dark, textured façades are punctured by large, inverted Georgian-style windows, featuring polished metal reveals inspired by the local gem trade. The matt charcoal cladding provides a hard-wearing, low maintenance façade in this gritty urban environment and contrasts with the chamfered windows. The reveals are angled to maximise views out and to reflect daylight deep into the apartments, an essential response to this constrained site. The interiors of the apartments are light, space efficient and simply detailed with high quality finishes, bathrooms, and bespoke kitchens.
