Clay Street

Great Marlborough Estates

Echoing the traditional mews house in both form and character.

Clay Street
Great Marlborough Estates

1-6 Clay Street is set within the Portman Estate Conservation Area and replaces an existing commercial building with five new townhouses. Set over basement, ground and two upper floors, the townhouses echo the traditional London mews house in both form and character.

Piercy&Company was engaged by Great Marlborough Estates to refine and develop an existing consented scheme. The detailing and proportions of the consented scheme façade were refined and the internal spaces redesigned to incorporate increased floor to ceiling heights, improved layouts and additional sustainability measures. Piercy&Company also worked to optimise the reach of the daylight introduced through large roof lights and open stairs at the rear of each townhouse – an important strategy for these single aspect houses.
