Highgate Studios
General Projects
Overview
Once the Sanderson wallpaper factory, Highgate Studios is currently home to a mix of innovative technology, media and creative companies including Alison Brooks Architects, music technology company ROLI and Warner Bros' gaming subsidiary Rocksteady. A key cultural destination at the height of the arts and crafts movement, the Victorian warehouse has remained a hub for creative businesses in North London for decades.
Piercy&Company has been commissioned by General Projects to reimagine its 212,000 sq ft estate in Kentish Town. The brief sought to renew and elevate amenities and historical features and reconnect the warren of warehouses and studios to the wider local community. In response, Piercy&Company has embarked on a series of new interventions and designs for a diverse array of spaces, from fully-fitted 1,000 sqft units to large, open-plan studios. Across the development, newly landscaped public realm, end-of-trip cycle facilities and outdoor social spaces will sit alongside amenities including an on-site café, restaurant, gym and parking.
Taking a light-touch restoration approach, the planned scheme will celebrate the existing rich industrial heritage and intricate architectural character, while future-proofing the site for a new generation of creative businesses.
