An ecosystem of workspaces for science and innovation.

One Triton Square transforms a 1990s office building at the heart of Regent’s Place into a new hub for London’s science and innovation community. Part of a wider repositioning led by British Land and Royal London Asset Management, the building provides laboratory-enabled workspace, flexible offices and shared amenities designed to support organisations from early-stage ventures to established innovation and technology businesses. Piercy&Co conceived the interior identity for the building’s shared spaces, creating a series of environments that foster exchange, collaboration, recharge and wellbeing.

At the centre of the building, a dramatic atrium acts as a social and spatial anchor. Designed to adapt throughout the day, it accommodates informal working, presentations, events and chance encounters, creating a shared forum for the building’s community. Meeting rooms, phone booths and informal niches line the atrium edge, establishing a gradient from animated communal spaces to quieter, more focused environments. Together, they offer occupants a spectrum of settings that support different modes of working and interaction.

The interiors challenge the conventional aesthetic of life science workplaces by introducing a hospitality approach, with warm tones, natural materials and variety. Drawing on the dualities present in scientific practice - precision and experimentation, rigour and creativity - natural materials are paired with refined industrial elements to create spaces that feel both sophisticated and welcoming. Careful attention to light, acoustics, tactility and wayfinding helps shape an environment attuned to varied working rhythms and sensory needs. Throughout, bespoke joinery, furniture and curated artworks contribute to an identity grounded in craft, curiosity and human experience.

Underlying the project is a commitment to sustainability through adaptation rather than replacement. By building upon the robust structure of the existing building, the scheme’s architects Arup significantly reduced embodied carbon while creating high-performance environments for future occupiers. Within the interiors, bio-based and low-carbon materials, durable finishes, renewable energy and circular procurement principles were embedded throughout, demonstrating how technical innovation and environmental responsibility can be seamlessly integrated within an architecture of warmth, longevity and expression.
