Planning Approval for Camden Lock Market

15th February

On Thursday 4th of February, Piercy&Company’s Camden Lock Market Masterplan received planning approval from the London Borough of Camden.

The Camden Lock Market Masterplan aims to reveal the site’s historic fabric and reconnect the Market with its arts and crafts, maker-focused origins. Piercy&Company’s masterplan integrates public realm improvements with a sensitive refurbishment programme and new build elements.

Included in the masterplan are improved indoor and outdoor market retail facilities, cafes, restaurants, galleries and a canal-side food hall as well as new workspaces and a venue for live entertainment. The proposal includes the opening up of the remarkable East Vaults and Dead Dog Basin which have remained untouched since they serviced the Interchange Building above.

The proposals developed through a series of physical models which were shaped by intensive workshops and consultations, allowing the studio to evolve a language and form that is both sensitive to the historic fabric and relevant to the future of the market.
