Overview

Bringing designing and making back into the heart of the market, is at the core of the brief. Piercy&Company’s design enhances the market offer, creating a series of varying spaces for traders, makers and designers as well as flexible exhibition and performance spaces and a range of food offers.

The concept is based on considering the site as five distinct but linked ‘character spaces’, each with its own identity defined by the existing buildings. Historic and listed buildings will be refurbished and new interventions added in a sensitive manner, revealing the hidden heritage of the site. Improving accessibility throughout the site and opening up links to the Regent’s Canal inform the approach to the site as a whole.
